The Casinò of Venice was founded in 1638 and it is known as the oldest gambling house in the world. It was opened in 1638 inside the Dandolo Palace in Saint Moisé, next to San Marco Square. Its aim was to concentrate the gambling service, widely spread despite forbidden by the Republic, in one single place and to channel important amount of money coming from gambling towards the National Treasury.
